The residents of Staniel Cay are well known for their sailing, and here is a gorgeous Bahamian sloop that was anchored just off the village.>
We were anchored just off an island close to Staniel Cay, called Big Major's spot, during the strong winds we had as Hurricane Dennis passed well south of us. There were about 15 other boats riding out the winds there, too.
Staniel Cay is also the home of Thunderball Cave, of James Bond film fame. On one of the nice days we went snorkeling in and around Thunderball Cave. There is as bar at the top of the hill looking down on the coves that include and are near to Thunderball Cave. Here they are:
And finally, for all of you in our family who are into "happy colors" and "found objects" or "trash", check out this gorgeous front yard of one of the residents on Staniel Cay. All things found on the beach - fantastic! I loved it!
