We had the most perfect weather for our trip to the Dry Tortugas. We sailed with a 10-15 knot west wind and what I call a "flashlight" moon - this is a full moon so bright on such a clear night that even I can see! It was gorgeous! Then we had a week of light winds, clear skies, no rain, perfect snorkeling and exploring weather for week in the Dry Tortugas. We really enjoyed wandering around Fort Jefferson (built in the 1840s/50s). I don't have a good picture of Loggerhead Key, but when we were there the Coast Guard was keeping a close watch using patrol boats and keeping a watch on the top of the Loggerhead Key Light. In fact, eleven Cubans had floated ashore one morning on the day we visited Loggerhead Key.
Here's a bunch of pictures of Fort Jefferson.
