The Current Adventures of Ellipsis
On May 19, 2005, Ellipsis left St. Petersburg, Florida "kissed" by dolphins as she sailed out the bay.
Our itinerary has been roughly as follows:
May 22- 29, the most perfect-weather week there ever was in the Dry Tortugas - and we were there for it!
May 30 - June 15, two weeks getting provisions etc. in Marathon and waiting for weather, including waiting for Tropical Storm Arlene to pass by
June 18 - June 23, the Berry Islands, Bahamas (we couldn't resist one more trip to Great Harbour Cay for the best conch fritters in the world)
June 24 - July 1, Eleuthera and vicinity, including Rose Island, Royal Island, Spanish Wells, Harbour Island, Current Cut and Hatchet Bay, and Cape Eleuthera
July 2 - 20, the Exumas, including
July 2-3, Allan's Cays inhabited by rock iguanas
July 5 - 10, vicinity of Staniel Cay (home of Thunderball Cave) including Big Major's spot where we rode out the winds associated with Hurricane Dennis very comfortably
July 11-13, headed north to be closer to Nassau when we weren't sure which way Hurricane Emily was going, spent a glorious three days at Shroud Cay when she decided to stay well south of us
July 15 - 19, Warderick Wells, anchored near Emerald Rock, or as we now lovingly refer to it as "the Emerald City" (check out the pictures and you'll see why)
July 20 - 23, visited Nassau for our first time even though we'd been to the Bahamas two previous times
July 28 arrived back in Marathon.
August & September: Planned stay back in St. Petersburg for the worst of hurricane season. Extended due to really bad hurricane season through some of October.
Thanksgiving Day, sailed into Nassau.
December 2 - 12, 2005: Georgetown, Great Exuma, Bahamas
December 15 - 20, 2005: Cockburn Harbour, South Caicos Island, Turks & Caicos
December 20 through February 8: Luperon, north coast of the Dominican Republic. We stayed here much longer than we originally planned, and we really came to love the country.
February 10: Arrived in Puerto Rico.
March 15 or so: Left Puerto Rico for the Virgin Islands.
mid-April to mid-May: BVI, St. Martin, St. Barts, Saba, St. Croix
mid-May to mid-June: Going back home - stops in Culebra; Luperon; Providenciales (Turks & Caicos); Shroud Cay & Nassau, Bahamas; Marathon, FL, USA.
